Treatment under anaesthesia

Another advantage of general anaesthesia is that no unpleasant memories will be associated with the surgery. The switched off or subdued consciousness won't let burdening impressions arise in the first place. Duration and depth of the anaesthesia are controllable in many ways and depend on the particular type of treatment.
Twilight sleep
Twilight sleep (procedural sedation) is an alternative, if you do not wish to be treated under general anaesthesia or if it is not an option, due to health reasons. Twilight sleep is a targeted medicinal pain relief with simultaneous sedation. Depending on the dosage it is possible to sedate and to induce sleep. The main difference to general anaesthesia is that you remain responsive and breathe independently, which also means that no physical stress is caused.
